Our Initiatives

Your Sodexo Campus Dining Team is dedicated to sustainability. We know we can all work together to make a positive impact right here at Adams State University. In addition to the many initiatives we take on as a company, we have implemented the following programs specific to Adams State University.

Recycling

On campus we recycle the following products: cardboard, glass, aluminum, paper, plastic.

Food Drives

We are active participants in school-sponsored food drives; one of the shelters that has received donators as part of our joint efforts is the La Puente homeless shelter, and the ASU Food Pantry.

Recycling Fryer Oil into Biofuel

French fries to fuel. Indeed, our fryer oil is recycled into biodiesel that is used to power a variety of vehicles - from delivery fleets to farm equipment. Local Results: Our campus proudly recycles everything that comes through our kitchen, including our grease and used oil. We have arranged with Valley Roots Food Hub to provide 100% Non GMO Sunflower oil and pick up our used oil and grease and turn it into reusable fuel and body soup for re-sale.

Local Farms

We work hard to get as many ingredients locally as possible. We are currently purchasing 10% of local produce and grains from Valley Roots Food Hub including mushrooms, potatoes, local jellies, honey, quinoa, anaszi bolita beans. Our professionally-trained chefs write our menus to take advantage of the fresh fruits and vegetables that are naturally in season. We cut all our own french fries that come from potatoes sourced within 15 miles of the campus.
